The Monk vocation has three unique and exclusive mechanics:

All systems can (and will) work simultaneously with monk stances.

Harmony

The harmony system grants monks more versatility in spell usage.
It works through a builder/spender playstyle and can accumulate up to five stacks of harmony.

Every stack boosts your Spender spell damage.

  • 1 stack ─ 7% more damage
  • 2 stacks ─ 14% more damage
  • 3 stacks ─ 28% more damage
  • 4 stacks ─ 56% more damage
  • 5 stacks ─ 112% more damage

This damage can be way more increased through the monk stances.

Builder Group Spells

  • Adds one stack of harmony
  • (If solo): heals health points
  • (If in a party): heals the party member with the lowest health percentage nearby

Spender Group Spells

  • Consumes all stacks of harmony to heavily increase their power.
  • (If solo): heals health points
  • (If in a party): heals the party member with the lowest health percentage nearby

Serenity

The serene mode is represented by the purple bar below your harmony.
It is always active, unless you are in a party with 6 or more adjacent monsters and a party member is nearby.

When inactive, it cuts the effect of all monk stances in half.

Mantra

The mantra system works similarly to armor.
In the same way that an item can provide elemental protection or skill boosts, it can also provide mantra.

For every point of Mantra your character has, it reduces damage taken by 1.

Example:
Let's say your character has received a flat 1150 damage, and you have 230 armor and 120 mantra.

Every armor point reduces damage taken by 3:
230 * 3 = 690

Every mantra point reduces damage taken by 1:
120 * 1 = 120

Received damage: 1150
Damage reduced by total armor value: 690
Damage reduced by total mantra value: 120

Final damage taken:
1150 - 690 - 120
= 340 hit points
